Hi! My name is Sheila Parnell and I am the Principal at Hughson Christian School. I am also the2nd grade teacher. I am a native “Hughsonite” and attended Stanislaus State where I received my degree in liberal studies with a concentration in Psychology. I have been a part of the HCS family for over 20 years and wouldn’t choose to work anywhere else in the world. Hughson has a special spot in my heart as it is my hometown. I’m blessed to be able to minister to the families in this town and surrounding communities while working along side a team of AMAZING people who I consider family even though Christ’s blood is the only thing that runs between us.
I have been married to my husband, Jeremy, for 21 years. We have two children, Sara(17) and Michael(15). During my early years at HCS, I realized I wanted my children to be brought up with the strong Christian educational foundation that my own students were receiving. I was blessed to be able to oversee this process and they are now both attending Hughson High School. My intention now is to continue to provide that educational experience to all of the children that have been entrusted to us at HCS.
“For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?””
Esther 4:14 ESV
Hi! I’m Mrs. Heather MacDonald aka “Mrs. Mac”. This will be my 4th year teaching 4th grade but she has been at HCS her whole life.
I have been married to Mr. Ryan for 1.5 year with three fur babies. Dolly & Fenton, and our newest addition and classroom pet, Elvis.
My goal for this year is to take a few historical field trips and have students write an independent book report!
Mrs. Cherri Becerra (the secretary) is her mom and Mr. Becerra is on the school board. HCS is in our blood and we love our little school!
“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.”

Hi, my name is Alexa Hitchcock. I am the vice principal and the third grade teacher. I have taught many grade levels in my career, but second and third are my favorites! My husband and I have been married almost eight years. We live in Livingston and attend church at Livingston church of Christ. We do not have any children of our own but adore our 3 nephews and 2 nieces. We also keep ourselves plenty busy with our rabbits, goats, chickens, cats, and dogs. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree In Liberal Studies with a minor in Early Childhood Development and my Teaching Credential from California State University, Monterey Bay. This is my ninth year of teaching, my third as Vice Principal, and my eighth at HCS.
I choose to work for HCS because I thoroughly enjoy working with amazing people who are committed to providing a Christ-centered and loving environment for students to learn and thrive. My goal for this year is to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which these students can learn in person as well as continue to provide a sense of normalcy for them in our ever changing world. The last three years has proven over and over again what an amazing God we serve. He has provided and protected our school and our families. He has blessed us abundantly and we have been able to serve even more families since the pandemic. He is always directing our paths and it has been so amazing to witness this so clearly. I am so looking forward to this school year and getting to see everyone again as well as meeting our new families.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6.
Hi! My name is Rebecca Mayfield and I am the current Jr. High teacher. This is my third year at HCS and my second year teaching the “big kids”! I grew up in Hilmar, with my parents and five younger siblings. I enjoy raising farm animals and showing registered dairy cattle with my family. I graduated Hilmar High in 2015, and then graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Special Education/K-12 Education from Western Governors University. My husband Ethan and I, welcomed our son, Ames, in 2021. He loves visiting HCS and spending time with our class. We attend the Hughson Church of Christ and enjoy the friendships and fellowship we’ve gained. I love working for HCS because of the family atmosphere, the sweet students and the loving staff! My goal this year is to continue to prepare our Jr. Higher’s for their next steps to high school and beyond. I am so blessed to be a part of Hughson Christian and thankful for all of the relationships I’ve gained with our students and their families. ❤️
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Hi, friends! My name is Cherri Becerra. I have been affiliated with HCS since 1995 when our daughter started attending in preschool. Two of our daughters attended HCS through 8th grade. I started working at Hughson Christian School in 2009 as the administrative assistant.
Mr. Becerra and I have been married for 34 years, and we have 5 grandchildren! I am very proud that all three of our daughters are educators.
I chose to work at Hughson Christian so that I could spend every day with my Christian family in a loving, caring, and fun environment.
My goal for this year is to make every student at HCS feel safe and loved.
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24
They call me Mrs. B. Olson
I am the kindergarten teacher at HCS. This is my 8th year here at the school.
I was widowed over 3 years ago. Last Christmas, I met a wonderful man who proposed over the summer. I have one daughter, Karinna, and 3 adult stepchildren and 10 grandchildren.
As a graduate of CSU Stanislaus, I enjoy sharing my knowledge of history and government. I have taught Bible classes on Sundays and Wednesdays. For one week each summer I volunteer at Modesto Area Yosemite Bible Camp during the summer.
The students and staff at HCS are wonderful and inspiring. It is a joy and privilege to be in this environment.
Her goal for the year is to “Bee Happy!”
My favorite verse is Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.”
The San Francisco Giants are my favorite team and as you can tell, I think bumble bees are cute!
